9000 Lottsford Road, Largo, MD
Park Map/ No Bus
Carpool fee payable to drivers; please bring enough cash to cover the cost of gas. Circuit Hike: 7½ miles, 900 feet ascent/descent.
Carpool from Largo Town Center Metro; meet at Kiss and Ride Area upstairs on escalators near Globe at 9:00 a.m. After our well-received inaugural visit two years ago, we return to this 3,000-acre refuge created in 1986 from encroaching development in Maryland’s Calvert County and named after a former dominant tree in America’ eastern forest. We’ll explore the park’s south side on the Laurel Loop, East Loop, Stream Loop and Ridge Loop Trails, passing through woodlands and wetlands and glimpsing old farm buildings and a small cemetery.
Leaders: Reid Rottach (reidalan<at>gmail.com or 301/[masked]) and Ryan F.
Please RSVP for this hike on Meetup. You only need to contact the hike leaders if you have questions regarding the hike.

(Optional) Membership Dues $10.00 per year. Click the "Member dues" link (on the left side of this page) to pay the $10 annual dues to support the Capital Hiking Club. Dues help pay for the administrative and web costs of running the club, and you will also benefit from a reduced rate for club hikes.
If the hike is listed as full and your 6 month free trial of the Capital Hiking Club membership has expired, Meetup may prompt you to pay the membership dues. If you choose to pay the membership, you are still not guaranteed a spot on the hike: you can only get a spot on the hike if one opens up. Dues are non-refundable.

Looking forward to some great hikes this year. I also enjoy backpacking, camping, and canoeing.
I've been hiking with CHC for about 7 years or so. I'm very grateful for the club.
Moved to DC from Berkeley three months ago for a new job. Love being in nature.
