Capitola-Aptos Hiking Pages

Safety on Hikes - Participants are responsible for their own and others safety. The organizer is not CPR certified. Participants are advised to bring a first aid kit. Our group is geared for responsible adults and participants are expected to take responsibility for themselves and others on the hike. Nobody knows your individual abilities and limits other than you. Do not join the hike if hiking is medically contraindicated or you do not have medical clearance to hike. Our membership is diverse, made up of people of many different ability levels. Though on some hikes it may be possible to keep the group together it may not always be possible on all the of the hikes. Please wait at all trail junctions for all to be present and accounted for to reduce the possibility of someone getting lost. If you need to leave the hike for any reason you must let the group organizer know and should not leave alone.

Always bring at least a quart of water. Carry a cell phone with the hiker leader's cell phone number added. Wear appropriate comfortable hiking footwear to ensure your own personal safety and comfort. Layers of clothing should also always be carried as weather can be changeable.

How long are the hikes?

It depends on the energy level and preferences of the group. There is not a guaranteed return time. It is best not to plan anything else for later in the day. We will make every effort to return by dark, but there can be special circumstances. Participants should bring head lamps or flashlights for unforeseen circumstances.

Carpools are organized by the participants. The participants in the group have not been screened so accepting a ride is at your own risk.

To reduce the volume of email each member receives, please, if you need clarification of the hike or activity please email the organizer directly rather than emailing the whole group.

About RSVP's:

If you want to come to an event, mark "yes" as your RSVP. If you change your mind please change your RSVP to "no" so others may participate. The number of participants for each hike or activity is usually limited to 15. Usually no dogs allowed. Each participant is encouraged to RSVP on their own so they are fully aware of the scope of the hike or activity. The organizer can approve guests.

Starting time:

Hikes usually start 10 minutes after the posted time so people don't have to wait.
