The Black Hole: What Recruiters Really Do, Mike Bruni of SAIC

Mike Bruni of SAIC will be teaching on how internal recruiters work.

What are the process recruiters use to find a candidate?

What are the stresses recruiters are under?

What does a recruiter do in a typical day?

Why don't recruiters return phone calls?

How can you as a candidate better position yourself now that you know how recruiters work?

Under what circumstances should I contact a recruiter?

How do recruiters interact with hiring managers?

Please Note:

1. All attendees are required to dress as if they are going to a formal job interview. For men this means a suit.

2, Please bring multiple copies of your resume with you.

3. Many people show up as early as 8:00 to get one on one help with resumes and other job related issues.

4. BJSP starts promptly at 8:45 AM and ends promptly at 12:00 Noon.

5. The Beltway Job Search Partners is a Business Education organization where the content is controlled by people with a background as professional recruiters. There is a Christian Ministry component to the Beltway Job Search Partners.

Mr. Bruni’s is an excellent presenter. Message delivered was very detail, clear and concise to the point. It was a great insight from Recruiters prospect. I did learn a lot from today’s presentation as well as reinforced several topics. Special thanks to BJSP, Mr. Brandau and the volunteers for continuous support to the job seekers.

Mike Bruni's presentation and potrayal of 'What Recruiters Really Do' painted the picture clearly, giving job seekers an edge on avoidance of the 'Black Hole'. Crafting resumes to specific job requirements will only better one's chance for a phone call from a recruiter. Mike's sharing of some of his 17 years of experience in the field was beneficial to the cause and greatly appreciated. Thanks to TeqCorner, and Robert Brandau and the entire BJSP group for providing the venue and training / support!

Mike, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with us. The industry you work in is unquestionably a dominant one in this area, and has some important nuances, that once explained makes more sense of the process we are all experiencing as we approach your specific industry. You're presentation was a wonderful balance of specific industry nuance and awareness of what every recruiter experiences including the details of "the hunt", priorities and tips on how to stand out and get noticed. I left your presentation better prepared, more focused and motivated!

Excellent seminar! I learned a lot about recruiters; the pressures the face to fill positions in a timely manner and the numbers of resumes they receive for any given position is staggering. The odds are not in our favor. Mike is a very dynamic speaker.

Thank you to Mike Bruni for providing insight into industry recruiting practices to better equip BJSP attendees to be the candidates of choice. Mike shared 'a day in the life of a recruiter', with metrics illustrating the huge volume of resumes, email, & phone calls that recruiters receive. Having this insight into the recruiter's perspective (including how a resume is reviewed) enforced the importance of having a resume that catches the recruiter's eye, as the gateway to being hired. Mike also provided tactics on how candidates can get noticed. Strong interest in the presentation continued into a lively Q&A. I'm looking forward to the next time that Mike presents at BJSP!

The BJSP team provides job seekers with effective advice in each and every session. I'm amazed that most events are not SRO (standing room only). The next event with Mike Bruni should be another outstanding session.
