Soft Skills Session "How to better manage the ups and downs of the job search "

  • Apr 5, 2014 · 9:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Searching for a Job is never fun. This session deviates from the Professional Business Education offered by Beltway Job Search Partners.

Jason and Alesha Rusk along with Terri McConnell will facilitate this session where the BJSP team offers encouragement from their experiences. Both Jason and Terri have been through hard job searches. This motivates them to do their best to encourage you.

Attendees at the last session were extremely complimentary. Some of them called it the best networking session - even though it was not meant to be a networking session.

Unlike typical BJSP sessions which are business education, this session will have a clear Christian component to it. Yet, people who do not consider themselves to be Christian seem to get the most encouragement from these sessions.

This session will be in a private residence rather than in a business setting. The dress code will be business causal.

Hopefully, you will leave this session uplifted and encouraged.

Thank you Jason and Aleisha for hosting this event, providing encouragement and support to job seekers. And, thank you Robert for reinforcing that God always intervenes in ways beyond our expectations. It seems that this what happened with Jason after 22 months of job search. I was hoping to hear his story/ miracle, but he probably shared it already in previous meetings, which I missed. One day, though, I hope to hear it:) Thanks again for such a great service. God bless.

Robert shared his own challenges with the job search process and other life experiences. A life lesson that stood out for me in his talk is that we are not in control of so much and that being open to giving and receiving is important. I appreciated the opportunity to meet others and to find ways to help.

Since I am on the waiting list, will I be notified whether or not I am able to attend via e-mail prior to Saturday AM or what? Please notify. Thanks

Hello Larry. I am sorry you may not be able to attend, but we hope you look for other other BJSP events on the MeetUp site. We have a Max number for these events, and honestly this is the most folks we have had sign-up. Unfortunately, our home is not big enough for that many folks. we just do not have the seating for it at the moment. Please stay tuned for the next event. We hold them the first Saturday of every month, and BJSP runs events weekly

When I read Dalia's comment, it was as if she was reading my mind! I have said those exact words over and over to myself the past several months. I find it comforting to know that there are other professionals out there looking for fulfillment in a new job/career. I come from the world of retail, so I am in uncharted waters. Thank you for hosting and I look forward to meeting you and all who attend.
