Along with moving and buying a house, searching for a job is commonly listed by many authorities as one of the most stressful times of your life.  The task is so challenging that some say the first thing you should do is get a good night sleep!  In this group I'm taking a different approach: one that is based on scientific method.  I believe that the work you need to do can be distilled down to a rational approach where you create a plan and a means for it's execution.

I come from a support group background so my approach is somewhat more enlightened and creative than most.  I believe in empowerment of the individual together with the advice and support of others to help lift the spirit and facilitate growth.  This group will begin each time with a check-in that's like a round robin.  We'll briefly introduce ourselves and then begin to address the agenda for the meeting.  Groups can range in time duration from 1 - 1.5 hours.

My plan is to start out with a simple format and then scale as needs and interest arise.  In addition to support and advice, you can expect to network with others, benefit from their contacts as they benefit from yours.  In time we will be creating workshops in various topic areas like resume writing, mock interviews, and creative ways you can get an interview.  I will also be drawing on other group members to contribute more in the  future.  This is a great opportunity to: gain visibility, fill resume gaps, and get a good reference.  If you are interested in volunteering, let me know.

My background is extensive and multifaceted.  I've had a number of different jobs and careers including volunteer work and leadership.  I've worked for large companies and small, non-profits, educational institutions as well as for myself.  I went to Tufts University where I earned a bachelor's and master's degrees.  I have group leadership experience that includes formal facilitation training.  I've helped others create plans with action items and counseled them on how the can achieve fulfilling work that is compatible with their needs and lifestyle.

Not Allowed:  third party recruiters, pyramid-like scheme advocates etc.  If your intent is to market and/or sell products and services to group members then you don't belong in this group.  No Exceptions.
