Once again next weekend at Hershey brings one of the finest Auto Shows in America. Join your fellow Carlisle MINIacs on Saturday for our yearly tradition. We start with a spectacular breakfast at the Circular Dining Room. Some may join us just for this alone.
Breakfast is followed by the Grand Ascent. Or you may want to hobnob at Cars & Coffee, a tradition among car lovers, offering car enthusiasts an opportunity to show and discuss vehicles in a casual atmosphere. In addition, attendees will be able to view vintage cars participating in the Hershey Grand Ascent Hill Climb. Free coffee and doughnuts (maybe not so much after breakfast).
It is said that as soon as the first two cars were constructed, they had the first race.
While the automobile has spawned many competitive events, one of earliest motoring challenges was the hill climb. The concept is simple: cars race up a hill as fast as they can against the clock and each other.
Pennsylvania has always been a hot bed for hill climb racing and the Hershey area is no exception. In the heyday of the historic Hershey Hill Climb there were as many as 10,000 spectators lining the course to witness the feats of the courageous cars and drivers.
Modeled, in part, on the previous Hershey climbs and the famed Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Elegance at Hershey provides for grandstands at the start and near the finish line along with a trail up the hill where spectators can watch and enjoy the cars during runs.
What to do after all this...How about a repast in the spectacular Iberian Lounge for a Chocolate Martini or the libation of your choice.
A chance to unwind with your fellow Carlisle MINIacs...the day can't get much better than this!
