Monon Trail Walk and Lunch in the District

  • May 15, 2010 · 10:00 AM

In April, we had our first-ever Monon Trail Meetup and lunch with about a dozen attending - perfect, sunny day! Let's hope for the same in May.

We'll walk 30 to 45 minutes north or south, then come back for some lunch at Bub's or wherever anyone wants to go in the Carmel Arts & Design District. Greg is hosting this event and can be reached at[masked] if you can't find us or just want to connect with us for lunch afterwards. Look for Maureen, too

Newcomers are encouraged to attend!

Meet us in the Monon Parking Lot one block south of where the Monon crosses Main Street in Carmel, which would be on 1st St SW. Directions from Keystone Avenue: Go north on Keystone to Main Street/131st St. and turn left. Go past Carmel High School. Turn left at Range Line Road. Turn right at 1st St. When you come to the Monon, you'll see the Monon Parking lot on the left.

The weather certainly cooperated. Lunch at Bub's is always yummy. I had enough discipline this time to go with the 1/4 pound elk burger, rather than a half, so that I wasn't a SuperBloat for the rest of the day.

I'm sorry I didnt make it, phone guy was late! He didnt show up until almost 11, and I live about 40 minutes away from where we were meeting so I knew I'd never make it. I hope I can get the next one!

The weather was great and the fellowship was good. I also enjoyed eating at a new restaurant.

Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day for a walk... can't wait!! Oh, and I think we need to get a picture of the birthday boy in front of that police officer! ;)

Weather forecast is looking good, but rainy day plans are to meet instead at 12:30 p.m. at Bub's (by the statue of the police officer directing traffic at the Monon) for lunch.

If you're coming north or Meridian Street, turn right onto Rangeline Road (other way is Clay Terrace Blvd.). Follow it past the intersection of Main and Rangeline Road. Turn right at 1st St. Monon Parking lot is on the left when you see the Monon Trail.

Keystone is closed so I woiuld suggest taking Keystone to 116th and then head west to Rangeline which is the 2nd stoplight from Keystone and go north on it to Main Street or just one block south of Main Street and then head over to the Monon.

You can always mapquest Bazbeaux Pizza which is 111 W. Main St in Carmel. They are right on the Monon and just one block north of where we are meeting. The is plenty of street parking in the area.

Does anyone know if Keystone will be open on saturday? And if not, could I please have alternate directions or an address that I can mapquest? I remembered what I have going on saturday, phone guy, but hopefully he'll be gone in time for me to come.
