Needs a location
I know this is last min. but there is a possible lite snow predicted this weekend. Would like to hike a short distance to somewhere Friday before dark and set up a camp near a stream or wooded area. I'm thinking somewhere in Wilson Creek to photograph and enjoy the snow. (I'm open to any suggestions for location) I thought of Max Patch or sim bald area but usually no streams or wood for fire in those type places. Would like to hike short distance and enjoy the camping experience and possible fly fish a stream. Let me know if you want to join and can leave sometime Friday to arrive before dark for camp set up. I have 4WD truck and can meet to drive. Should be a nice snow on Saturday and then an easy hike out Sunday.. [masked] cell.
UPDATE:: The plan now is to Meet in Dallas, NC at the Ingles Friday morn 9:27 AM. Drive up 321 to I-40 to Morganton to meet again at the Wally World Food Mart on the left outta town on 181 at 10:32am. Drive to trail head from there. Location of the hike / camp is Trail 266 A. at Wilson Creek. We will begin our short hike to a really kool campsite just past Bard Falls. This does require 1 creek crosing if we decide to go that far. Campsites are available before the crossing if we decide not to cross. But, the really kool scenery and falls are across the creek. I will bring a pair of hip waders and shoes we can pass back via a rope and dry bag if you dont want to get wet. The crossing is short but probably close to thigh deep in one spot. knee deep mostly the rest of the way. We will access the possible crossing when we get there. (Safety 1st) So, this will be a short hike in maybe 1.5 hrs, so bring whatever you wish to carry to camp as far as weight. Water can be filtered so no need for more than you want to drink hiking in. I will pack a tarp for shelter in case of more rain or wet snow than expected. I'm thinking I'll leave fishing gear behind since im packing waders and camera gear. The forecast is for lite snow.. 1-2" but be PREPARED for anything. Txt me or call to line up carpool or meet. I have room for 5 and already have 2 plus myself. Should be the perfect time for a good snowy camp out...
