Meetup details changed: 5th Annual New Year's Day Almost Noon Almost 10k Unorganized Group Trail Run

From: Marcus B.
Sent on: Friday, December 30, 2011 10:21 PM

Hey Gang,

We're moving the time to 12:30 for the group run start time!

This is to accomodate folks' schedules and also to prevent overlap with the Rock Hill Strider's New Year's Day Trail Race.  We have some folks that will be racing in the Striders race AND running with us, so we want to give them some extra time to hook up with us.

Also, a couple of clarifications for the run:

1.  It's not a race, just a bunch of us getting together to run.  :-)

2.  It's unorganized (hence the name).  No timing, no participation fees, no support.  Bring your own fluids and nutrition.

3.  No special trail markings.  However, I will consider it a no-drop run.  If you know the trails and want to run ahead, feel free to do so.  I'll make sure everyone knows where they're going.  So if you don't know your way around, no problem.  This is a great way for you to learn these great trails.

4.  I'll be running our psuedo 10k distance (as will most everyone.  You'll get to see some sweet single track, Webb's Mill and the Dairy Barn.  If you only want to do 5k or so, I have a cutoff where I can point you back towards the vehicle parking.  It's simple as heck.  There's a little bit of gravel road running, but for the most part, it's single-track.

5.  We're not charging anything for this run (as it's just a group run) but there is a trail use fee that Springs charges for trail use.  Do not pay this to us, but instead, pay it at the trailhead kiosk where we'll be meeting.  Please forgive me, but I'll be asking everyone if they paid, because we don't believe in "poaching" the trails. There's some great train maintenance and upkeep that goes on out there, and we want to support it.  So please bring 3 bucks with you to pay to Anne Springs Close Greenway.

6.  This is a trail run.  Although you can run this entire run in road shoes, be sure to bring ones you don't mind getting dirty (or even a little muddy).

7.  Have fun!

See you there.!

When: Sunday, January 1,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Anne Springs Close Greenway - TRIAL BARN
2117 Springfield Parkway
Fort Mill, NC 29715
