Docker is an open platform for developing, shipping, and running applications. In this talk, I will cover the basics of Docker, why you might want to use it, and how to use it. We'll start with what a container is and how it differs from a VM. I'll then cover some of the use cases for containers from development through building and shipping, to deployment. From there I'll launch into demo mode, composing a small micro-service with other dependencies and running it. Finally, we'll touch a bit on container orchestration software such as Kubernetes and Docker Swarm.

Chris Dufresne - Has worked at Vistaprint in Waltham, MA for what will be three years in March. During his time there he has been heavily involved in breaking down Vistaprint's monolithic E-Commerce platform into micro-services. He is currently the Domain Architect for the Document Domain which is responsible for persisting a customer's design customizations.
