We are excited to welcome Jonathan Ellis (https://twitter.com/spyced), the Apache Cassandra Chair, to speak about the new features and improvements in Cassandra 2.0.
Cassandra 2.0 brings a raft of new features, with the standout being CAS (http://www.datastax.com/dev/blog/lightweight-transactions-in-cassandra-2-0) (Compare-and-Set) - implemented via lightweight transactions using Paxos. Other features include improved compaction, better repair, triggers (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-1311), and various improvements to CQL (http://www.datastax.com/dev/blog/cql-in-cassandra-2-0).
19:00 - Arrive, networking with beer and pizza
19:30 - Talk by Jonathan Ellis of Datastax
20:30 - Finish up, more networking and beer
21:00 - Head to nearby pub
In addition to the talks there will be, as usual, plenty of opportunity to meet other Cassandra users and enjoy robust discussions around NoSQL.
Special thanks to Skype (http://www.skype.com/en/) for providing the venue, beer and pizza.
Big thanks to long term supporter DataStax (http://www.datastax.com/). DataStax are one of the largest supporters of the Cassandra project and offer comprehensive support as well as their own distribution of Cassandra, Hadoop and Solr (DataStax Enterprise).
