Peace in Midwinter

‘Tis the season – please join the Castle Rock Unitarian Universalist Community (CRUUC) on Sunday, December 15th with guests Lia Davis and Eric Moon for a festive and reflective service of holiday music, poetry, and readings. We will sing together and contemplate the mystery and solace to be found at this darkest time of the year.

Lia Davis began playing piano by ear at age five, has fourteen years of classical training, and is an accomplished musician across many genres, including jazz, Argentine tango, folk, and pop. Piano is her native instrument, though she also sings and plays accordion, organ, electric bass, folk harp, and drum set. She is the Music Director at First Unitarian Society of Denver, where she has served in the Music Program since 2007. Fascinated by learning and how to facilitate others’ learning, Lia teaches piano to students of all ages and skill levels. Her other interests include dancing, cooking, architecture, and improvisation (in all areas of life).

Eric Moon is CRUUC’s Music Director and has worked with artists as diverse as Jackson Browne, Loretta Lynn and Bjork; created factory preset sounds for keyboards from Alesis to M-Audio; and scored for national television advertising and cable. He currently works as a studio musician and performer in and around Denver, where he lives with his wife, Lia Davis, and their two children, Cora and Eben.

CRUUC meetings are held every 3rd Sunday of the month at 3737 New Hope Way, Castle Rock, CO, 80109, in the Castle Rock Room of New Hope Presbyterian Church**. Please arrive by 3:45 p.m. Meetings begin promptly at 4:00 p.m. and doors are locked at 4:10 p.m. If you arrive late, simply knock and someone will let you in. Please bring food and/or drink to share. Meetings/services are usually followed by breakout discussion groups. As always, we will finish up with a potluck and social hour which ends around 6:30 p.m. Blue jeans and casual attire are welcome. If you are volunteering to help set up, please arrive by 3:15 p.m. Thank you!

Potluck Sign Up
There are approximately 30-45 people attending: some are gluten free, vegetarian or vegans, and one of our youth is allergic to tree nuts. Please let us know what you will be bringing to the potluck by signing up online. Go to: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ChXaLbKXO-nnmtbHjpa8Nk0Y9I2YY_flijuhni6HcbQ/edit?usp=sharing so we can make sure we don’t get all desserts, or all wine — although both of those scenarios sound like a non-problem. You may also sign up to help with setting up or cleaning up.
