• Fall Foliage Bike Ride through Loomis Chaffee/Washington Park Neighborhoods

    A Casual Bikers favorite since 2012 We'll park and meet behind Bart's Drive in. Please have your bike in ready-to- ride condition. Tires should be pumped to maximum pressure written on the sidewall and also your gears and brakes should be in good working order. Please bring a spare tire tube in case of a flat. Medium Level Bike Ride: The ride is about 22 miles with breaks as needed and is conducted at a Medium Level pace of around 10 MPH and will probably conclude around 5:00 PM. This ride is not intended for a novice rider due to the distance. Our pace of 10 MPH is best suited for hybrid and mountain bikes and may be too slow for road bikes. We'll be taking a leisurely jaunt on a paved bike trail along the Farmington River and will proceed to ride through Loomis Chaffee School. Then we'll take roads that are less traveled through Washington Park and quiet residential neighborhoods throughout Windsor. There will be a bathroom break at McDonald's approximately mid-ride. We'll be staying on paved trails and quiet streets. Come and ride with us! We'd love to have you attend.     The address for a GPS (over a year old) is 62 Mall Way, in Simsbury. Arrive 15 minutes early and have your bike checked out. We'll check your tire pressure, seat adjustment and brakes. Join us for an easy Saturday morning 1.5 hour ride on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in Simsbury. This ride is intended for the novice rider. The ride will be conducted at a very slow easy pace. Feel free to turn around if you feel you need to at anytime. We will proceed north on the greenway, experiencing scenic vistas looking over the Granbrook Park bridge before turning back.     A Casual Bikers favorite since 2013 Please have your bike in ready-to- ride condition. Tires should be pumped to maximum pressure written on the sidewall and also your gears and brakes should be in good working order. Please bring a spare tire tube in case of a flat. We'll be riding at a Medium Level pace of 10 mph and take chitchat breaks every 4-5 miles. The ride will probably conclude around 5:00 PM. We will ride an approximate 20 mile loop which will take us through beautiful historic neighborhoods in Longmeadow, MA. We will be able to view over 100 houses which date back before 1900. Many of these homes in the historic district are set back giving the flavor of an authentic New England Center. We'll also see stately brick mansions that border the southeastern part of Forest Park. The ride is mostly flat and on quiet roads with the exception of Forest Park which has a few short hills. Bring snacks and water. There will be a bathroom/snack break in Forest Park. The bike ride is approximately 24 miles and the pace will be conducted at approximately 10 MPH (Medium Level) and will probably conclude around 5:30 PM The ride will include historic streets and quaint roads and stopping at the Geese Pond which is on the other side of town. We may also stop and take in the beautiful historic sights and homes in the area. We'll also be riding into the old Italian section of Hartford and a few miles beyond into Adrian's Landing and view the CT River on the East Hartford side. Then we'll ride through Bushnell Park, the State Capitol, Trinity College and Goodwin Park. The ride will probably conclude around 5:30 PM. We can dine after the bike ride at a local restaurant.     A Casual Bikers favorite since 2012 We'll meet in the Dock and Dine parking lot 12:30 PM The restaurant was demolished and is waiting for construction. Please have your bike in ready-to- ride condition. Tires should be pumped to maximum pressure written on the sidewall to help prevent getting a flat tire and be sure to bring a spare tire tube in case you do have a a flat. The ride is about 20 miles and will probably conclude around 5:00 PM and is conducted at a medium level pace of 10 mph. This ride is not intended for a novice rider due to the distance. Our pace of 10 MPH is best suited for hybrid and mountain bikes and may be too slow for road bikes. Be sure you are physically fit for a 20 mile bike ride. You will need to keep pace with the group and also not ride ahead of the group either. We'll spend the afternoon riding along scenic seaside roads in Old Saybrook CT. This is an easy flat bike ride where we will enjoy a quaint New England coastal town by bike on a nice summer day. It is a shoreline bike trip, on roads with a big bike shoulder, traveling, partially along the intercoastal, golf courses with K. Hepburns mansion. We'll see places such as the stone castle house on Billows Road and we will make a few stops for sightseeing. During the middle of the ride, we'll also stop at McDonald's for a bathroom break, drinks and/or snacks. We can dine at a local restaurant after the bike ride. Come and ride with us! We'll be riding through West Hartford on the quiet side. Route basically has very little traffic if any and is conducted on paved roads. Come out and discover West Hartford, a bicycle friendly town. The terrain does have some moderate hills but most of the route is relatively flat. The ride will probably conclude around 5:30 PM. The pace will be approximately 10 mph (medium level for casual) The ride is approximately 20 miles total with chitchat breaks every 4-5 miles.
