I have hosted a Meetup every couple of weeks for the last ten-plus years, and am now in the process of relocating from Sunny San Diego to Brrrrrrrrrrrington. I'm setting up the group now with the intent to get enough interest to start hosting tournaments in our new location in January, 2018. We intend for the Barrington edition of this group to follow suit with the way we structured things in San Diego; that is, it's going to be a very social, low-key, friendly, diverse group. It'll be a mix of beginners and more experienced players, and we're pretty much split down the middle between men and women. Our primary purpose is to have FUN! This isn't high-stakes poker, folks...it's structured fun. : )
All proceeds are paid out to the tournament and championship game winners; no rake is collected. We want to ensure that this is viewed as a legal home poker game in the state of Illinois. So, I'll keep it at this - Cat-sino Ricardo is requesting a voluntary contribution of $10 per player, per calendar year. These contributions will help to defray our annual Meetup site fees and will cover the group's periodic costs of new playing cards, chips, chairs, table replacement, etc. All contributions will be reinvested in our Meetup to keep it top-notch; the Management of Cat-sino Ricardo will in no way profit from this activity, except when we win the occasional tournament.
We look forward to seeing you at Cat-sino Ricardo!
