• Make Christmas post and presents for refugee children!
Hi champions, Let's make Christmas-themed letters and presents for Myanmar refugee children! Cause Corps is partnered with a Myanmar refugee school in Malaysia, and regularly exchange post with the children studying there. This month, we’d like to send some Christmas cards and presents (bookmarks, stories, artwork, etc) to the children. All materials and guidance will be provided, but if you've any spare arts and crafts materials that you'd like to use, please bring them along too! Cause Corps is entirely self-funded and thus we appreciate donations in any form. Looking forward to seeing you! Si Ning

  • Micro-Volunteering: Gardening with Green Gym!
Hi Champions, Let’s get fit and get green with some volunteer gardening! We’ll be helping the Oasis Green Gym Gardening Group do light gardening tasks to maintain an urban oasis community garden. The main goals? Green Gym aims to help create and maintain green spaces in the centre of London. They also aim to help people of all ages and fitness levels get outdoors and get moving! Never done gardening before? Not a problem! No experience is required, as you’ll be guided throughout the session. What time should I arrive? This is a micro-volunteering event which means that you have the choice to volunteer anywhere between 5 minutes and 3 hours of your time, between the start and end times - it's entirely up to you! Please do let us know when you intend to pop along though, so we can let Green Gym know numbers :) How do I find the garden? When you arrive at the leisure centre reception, say you're there for Green Gym and the community garden and they'll let you through. There's a door just behind the cafe to get out to the pool; walk past the outdoor pool and you’ll find us on the terrace behind the deep end of the pool! If it rains, we will meet in the cafe area just behind reception. If you can't find us, give Si Ning a shout by messaging on Meetup! See you there! Si Ning

  • Create colouring pages and inspirational journals for homeless people
    • What we'll do Colouring-in for adults is a popular and proven way to improve mental well-being and is something that will be beneficial for those who face difficult challenges in their daily lives. The charity 'Spires' (http://www.spires.org.uk) works to improve the quality of life of people who are homeless, insecurely housed, unemployed or suffering from the effects of poverty, mental ill health and loneliness. This project is all about creating adult colouring-in sheets so that folks can go into the shelter and participate in something calm and relaxing to take them away from life on the streets for a few hours. You don't need to be good at drawing as we will give you colouring sheets to trace. However, you have all the creative freedom that you want so the choice is yours if you feel like drawing a picture free hand! And, while it might seem a bit mundane because there's no colour (wot? no stickers??), you'll be amazed at how relaxed you feel - just from tracing a black line on a white page. Seriously, if you have trouble sleeping, take a few pages home with you and do them before bed. You'll be out like a light in no time. Spires also provides journals for those who wish to write so we create those, too! • What to bring Just your own good self. I'll bring the blank paper, black sharpies and a range of colouring books (should you wish to trace a design). If you fancy your hand at creating a journal, I'll have coloured felt-tips and pencils, washi tape, ink pads and stamps. The sticker box is just too big to schlep to Holborn... • Important to know This is a micro-volunteering event so you are welcome to stay for the entire duration or drop in for 20 mins. The event is free. However, like all Causecorps events it is self-funded. Should you care to put a pound in our parachute donation box it would be gratefully received.

  • Creative postcards for sick kids
Are you a regular Picasso? Fancy yourself a bit of a Shakespeare? Well, we want you! We're writing postcards to chronically or terminally ill children in hospitals around the globe. Join us for a hot drink, and send some smiles across the miles to brighten the lives of those who need it most. You don't need to be remotely artistic, I promise. I have all the stickers and doo-dahs you'll need to create miniature artwork which will brighten a sick child's day. Or you can choose one of the many picture postcards and just say "hi!". All you need to bring is your wonderful self and a smart-phone on which to access the website for children's names. If you can't imagine what to say to a hospitalised child, don't worry. I'll have a hard-copy of guidelines and inspirational suggestions. Alternatively, you could send a card or letter of support to the child's parents or siblings. You're welcome to write the postcard first at home (or anywhere convenient), drop it off to us here, and we'll cover the postage! This is a micro-volunteering event so you are equally welcome to pop in for 20mins or stay for the entire event. We're partnered with: • PostPals UK • Send Kids the World
