Hey there Champions!

We have an extra special micro-volunteering event for you. Why's it extra special you ask? It's been funded by the lovely folks at Focallocal and their Kindness Auction ( http://focallocal.org/) and we're combining events, especially for Spires!

The plan

Let's create inspirational journals and mindfulness colouring sheets for Spires Homeless Shelter!

The Mission

Spires is a South London based charity that helps hundreds of homeless and disadvantaged people all year round. They work to improve the quality of life of people who are homeless, insecurely housed, unemployed or suffering from the effects of poverty, mental ill health and loneliness.

By offering a range of help and developmental services through the centre and outreach sessions, their aim is to enable their service users to move away from the chaos of the streets and towards greater lifestyle stability for a brighter and more hopeful future. More information can be found about what they do on the website: http://www.spires.org.uk/

Why colouring? Colouring in for adults is a popular and proven way to improve mental well-being and is something that will be beneficial for those who face difficult challenges in their daily lives. This project is all about creating adult colouring in sheets so that the users of Spires can go into the shelter and participate in something calm and relaxing to take them away from life on the streets for a few hours.

Why journals? This project will involve creating journals with funky, inspirational covers that will be used in weekly adult Literature classes, run by Spires for the homeless and disadvantaged. It's time to find your inner creative genius!

Note: You don't need to be good at drawing as we will have templates and examples, however you have all the creative freedom that you want so the choice is yours!

What do you need to bring?

All materials are provided but if you've any lovely arts and craft resources you'd like to use, bring those along too!

What time should I arrive?

This is a micro-volunteering event which means that you have the choice to volunteer however much time you like between the start and end times - it's entirely up to you! You may want to allow yourself 20 minutes to create one colouring in sheet or 30 minutes to create one journal.

You will get the chance to meet other volunteers while doing something fun for a good cause!

We look forward to meeting you!
