Meetup member Hugo has organized this trail ride on the scenic and moderate/difficult Turkey Creek Trail that will take us to Cleator and then south to Bumble Bee. We will stop to explore the Howard Mine along the way. While only 11 miles in length, this trail is a moderate level with difficult sections that will take 4 hours to complete. Expect tree branches overhanging the trail and rocks/ledges that will require high clearance. You will need a high clearance 4x4 with aggressive 31+" tires.
A pre-run is scheduled for 2/5/19 and more details will be provided at that time. This ride is limited to 12 vehicles. ONLY SIGN-UP IF YOU ARE 100% COMMITTED TO ATTENDING.
PRERUN UPDATE 2/7/19
Hugo, Jon, Butch and I rode the Turkey Creek route today and it was every bit "moderate" in difficulty with the recent rains. The route crosses the creek many times and the crossings were up to 18-24" deep in spots. Although we would expect the waters to recede by Sunday, please be advised that there will be water. There is also a moderate amount of overgrowth on the trail so expect some tree branch scratches. I still believe that high clearance and aggressive 31+" tires are needed to have fun in Turkey Creek. Ride time was 3.5 hours and it is a beautiful ride. Highly recommend airing down your tires to soak -up some of the bumps. Lastly, there are no restrooms on this route.
