The only night in Reno-Georgia Ensemble Theater/benefits Relay for Life/Diesel

Jan. 8th,     THE ONLY  NIGHT IN RENO,  a comedy set in Reno in 1960, an original written by Topher Payne (a local playwright)

THE ONLY NIGHT IN RENO at Georgia Ensemble Theatre - $10 per ticket with 90% going to Relay for Life of Ruach (breast cancer). Pre theatre dinner with special discount pricing for Celebrate Members at Diesel.

Dinner - 5:30 - come anytime as long as you can get to the theatre by 7 (about 3 minutes away)

Play 7:30  - be there by 7 for the best seats

This is the second dress rehearsal where they work on fixing what went wrong the night before.  I guess we can call this night flub less night.

Celebrate Atlanta invites all members to a night of Broadway at the Georgia Ensemble Theatre.  Tickets while normally $25 to $40 will be $10 for Celebrate Atlanta members with 90% of the proceeds going to Relay for Life of Ruach Atlanta.  Relay for Life benefits cancer research, provides support for those that have cancer and support for those of us that have lost a loved one to cancer. In honor of the survivors, while optional, I hope you will wear purple or pink and if you have a cancer ribbon, proudly wear it on your lapel.

I do not need to explain the impact cancer has on people's lives, not only the person with cancer but those that are part of their life, especially family. I myself lost my mother to cancer as a child (I alway wear a pink ribbon on my jacket lapel in support of ending cancer.

herefore join us on November 6, 2013 for Deathtrap at Georgia Ensemble Theatre in Roswell.  As I said, your $10 admission with 90% going to Relay for Life of Ruach Atlanta and with your help, maybe the letters of children about their parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends will be a thing of the past.

So come out and show your support for all cancer victims and lets stamp out this nemesis once and for all.

Join us before the show for a pre-dinner at Diesel, right around the corner from Georgia Ensemble Theatre.  Celebrate members will enjoy discounted food and drinks and great conversation before the show at Diesel. Come to Diesel between 5:30 and 6 and then it is about 3 minutes to the Georgia Ensemble Theatre.

As to the play:

GET audiences’ favorite Atlanta playwright is back fast on the heels of his successes here with Tokens of Affection and Swell Party. This brand new play is set in Reno in August of 1960. It is 106 degrees outside. Filming on “The Misfits” is hopelessly behind schedule, with no end in sight. The Sierra Mountains are on fire, and Reno is in total blackout. Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift are playing board games with an accused murderess, and Marilyn Monroe is locked in the bathroom. The hilarious story of when Hollywood came to The Biggest Little City in the World, and everything went up in flames.

Thanks to everyone who came out. The theater was packed but we got everyone seated. Thanks to Diesel for getting the group in and out and for providing delicious food (at least my food was delicious). The pre-dinner is also a great way to provide a social opportunity before the show and based on the conversations I saw going on, it worked. Thanks to Relay for Life and Lisa for making this opportunity available and for running the event. I hope everyone who wanted some cake was able to get a piece. Thanks to Lisa for serving the cake. It looked good. Again, thanks for coming out and for your contribution to Relay for Life. Remember that $9 out of the $10 you paid last night goes directly to the charity. Our next play will be The Great Gatsby on February 26. Once again, we will start with dinner at Diesel and as a thank you, we will provide dessert during intermission. To sign up, go to:

This was my first Celebrate Atlanta event, and it was great! Thanks Dave & Lisa for organizing a fun cultural event on the north side! The play was good and the venue wonderful. The icing on the cake is that this was also an affordable event benefiting a great cause! :-) When is your next meetup that discusses how to become an organizer?

Thank you for setting this up as I'm still learning the lay of the land here. Reminded me I'm ready to be up on the boards again.

The play was amazing! Funny, but intense, with some good underlying messages. And the food at Diesel was a great way to start the evening.

The play was the most original idea built on a theme we all thought we knew with great personification of the actors many of us came to love. Very entertaining!
