Rock Springs Run

Rock Springs Run is a spring-fed, 8-mile downstream paddle from Kings Landing to Wekiva Island, aka Party Central. The run is 3.5 mph flow and the water is clear and shallow with a white, sandy bottom. Bring your swim suit as we will take advantage of the numerous white, sandy beaches along the run to take swim breaks in the cool, clear water. We’ll stop close to midpoint of the trip at Indian Mound campsite for a lunch break. Then, we’ll continue down Rock Springs Run and take a 1.4-mile roundtrip detour to Wekiva Springs for our last swim break before heading to our take-out at Wekiva Island. Dotted with cabanas along the creek, Wekiva Island has music, a full bar and excellent food if anyone cares to hang out for a couple of drinks afterward. We will meet at the put-in at 8:30am, and run our own shuttle.

Put-in: Kings Landing, 5722 Baptist Camp Rd, Apopka 32712.

Take-out: Wekiva Island, 1014 Miami Springs Drive, Longwood 32779

Please note that there is a $10.00 launch fee at Kings Landing.

Drats, I was just up there at Rock Springs Run the very next day on Saturday for an Orienteering event. If I had seen this sooner, I would have joined you all for some kayaking last Friday. I need to pay more attention & keep up with my emails, which just fills up too fast. Hopefully next time!

Curious as why you are only limiting to nine people? If you change, my husband & I would love to do it. Thank you!

Hi Christina. Thank you for putting on this event. Do you know if they rent kayaks at the park? I will be working in Sanford this week and won't be able to bring mine.

Jimi, Mike and Nicole - You have not paid the $10.00 annual fee.
Please pay the fee by Tuesday morning or contact me about alternate ways of paying. If dues have not been paid or other arrangement made I will have to remove you from this adventure.
    Thanks

Lunch at Indian Mound campsite? Does that mean that I should bring some food to eat on the trail run? I live in Lakeland, can anyone tell me how to get to Kings Landing?

Hi Mike, yes...pack a light lunch/snack as we will stop for a lunch break either at Indian Mound or at Wekiva Springs. Most people bring a sandwich, trail mix, granola bars...anything that's easy to pack.
