Having coffee, watching cardinal and finches at campsite, planning hikes to waterfall and sinkholes. Karen saw a deer here yesterday morning. We plan on driving over to Three Rivers where you can camp and launch kayak from campsite. Karen found the same springs I did, sylvan ,etc. off of hwy 20. We drove to Defuniak Springs but did not see anything.
Went to another state park with awesome blue. Springs and walked by water. Nice hike.

I am here at Falling Waters. Walked the waterfall trail, sinkhole trail and the oil well one. I love having a cement camp site. Easy to push camper. Probably drive over to Ponce De Leon in about fifteen minutes. Weather is good. High in 50s. Forecast says wont rain until late tonight, quit by morning. If you visit my site please do not drive over my electric cord.

Hey Linda x2, When near Tallahassee, a little North of rt 10, is where Lake Jackson "used to be"!!! It "Dissappeared 1-night! A sink-hole opened up and "Drained" the lake!
People went to sleep with lake-front property, and woke up with a muddy field front property. It's a quick & strange to visit the dock & boat ramp without the lake! Enjoy.

Weekend Marianna Forecast is supposed to be cold 60s 40s and dry except for some showers today. the naturalist Christine from Cumberland Island Inn is here at Torreya with friends..they may do Florida Caverns today. I may get an update. I plan to go see house here today at ten with some friends...after that I may go to st marks refuge, do some scenic driving. possibly get back in time to hitch camper before rain. Have no idea when I'll get to Falling Waters tomorrow. Check in is technically at three p.m. I'll try maybe noon. Trails here at Torreya are awesome, but there are slippery places and wet leaves can get slippery. I was good, but the Jacksonville Naturalist slipped and slid a bit in old tennis shoes. Nice to see the shine shine. But high here Torrreya is only mid 40s today. Great car touring day. All my food (except one night grill steaks, baked potatoes) is pre cooked, in eating dishes. My husband made me lots of Dinners. I did breakfast. I just warm in microwave.

Sounds great. Enjoy your son. Our oldest son is coming over in April. The biggest plus of a camper is not being at total mercy of weather which is so unpredictable. I can cook inside in mine. That is awesome too. I brought my Capresso coffee maker and whole beans I roasted myself. I am hoping we can do some teardrop tours. I am at little Talbot the last weekend in February. I may do a 2000 plus trip in mid August. Stay at a wild animal rescue place. Guess I need to decide and book it. Trip is certain. Whether I take camper or not is up in the air. Then I am going to Alaska... Have not decided if I am going to extend that trip. Enjoy your son...

The gals that went to Florida Caverns today said it was great. I toured Gregory House today here at Torreya State Park, then drove to San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park. Took a nice walk, part with with the Ranger and saw a movie. there are some paddling trails. i took a picture of the map. Then went to St Marks refuge, drove through the area and went to the lighthouse....before it started sprinkling...and weather went back to 39. If anyone has any more ideas on what to see, Tallahassee, Marianna, general area, I am open to suggestions. We will probably try for Florida caverns on SUNDAY. Then have Monday as backup. I am hooked up to the car, will head out for falling waters site #3 in the morning. I tend to make stops if I see something interesting. State Park personnel have been awesome and friendly. Locals friendly and helpful too.

Had a fantastic time today. Visited four state parks, took several hikes, some scenic drives, including 30a. The ranger said there is great kayaking from here at Rocky Bayou state park. One is up a channel, and back, slow current. They rent kayaks. The hikes at rocky bayou across from site 25 were
short and awesome. I went back to Henderson beach, to check the waterfront and down to grayton beach and Deer Lake to walk the sand dunes. Many of the camping sites at grayton beach were tiny dirt sites, some dirt sites were bay front (Through trees) but roads were pitted. Great place to visit for a nice hike.
Not sure good for a teardrop camper. Bathrooms at both Henderson and Grayson were extremely clean and cleaned often. That is today's update. I head for Torreya tomorrow. I drove by Eden state gardens today...but was too late for guided tour. I drove by Topsail, too. So many parks!
The camps hosts are very nice about helping back up teardrop campers.

Hey Linda, I won't be able to join but, when I worked in Tallahassee I drove south to "Wachulla Spring" & snorkled it. Largest spring in FL! fantastic! clearest water, deepest, big fish & turtles. I would take the glass bottom boat next time.

An $8. glass-bottom boat ride is a "Steal"! The water is 72' year round. The visitor center is a beautiful old Mansion. I'd still swim/snorkle @40'!

There are two boat tours. Glass bottom is limited to late winter dates when water clarity is good....so maybe we will get lucky. Thanks for the info.

wish I could go, the florida trail through this area is outstanding. You don't even need a tent from the blackwater section to the alabama state line, they have shelters every 7 miles.
