Juniper Springs & Alexander Springs Paddle and Camping

Every 6 months on the 3rd Saturday

Location visible to members

We will set up basecamp at Alexander Park for both Friday and Saturday evenings. We will paddle Juniper Saturday and another spring Sunday. Again well will do a pot luck dinner on Saturday night only - on you own for Friday night.

Sunday morning you can paddle either 4 miles downstream from head springs to the bridge and back to the Alexander Springs park (easy - very beautifull paddle - 2 miles each way) or paddle one of the other springs or rivers in the area. This will be an open day.

Alexander trip description; putin at Alexander park; Alexander Springs is a first-magnitude spring with a flow of 76 million gallons daily. The springhead is in a large pool about 200 feet in diameter that is a popular swimming area. Beyond the springhead, the creek runs down a wide channel bordered by palm, maple, pine and live oak draped in Spanish moss. Water lilies, cattails, and other vegetation thrives atop the water, channeling the stream flow. Paddlers who choose to continue their route past the bridge will encounter braided channels created by the watery vegetation. Downstream, it could get a little confusing with islands creating channels of their own. Just pass the end of the park, the creek narrows as we enter into the wilderness and our takeout at NFR-552. An easy 7 mile downstream paddle.

We will run our own shuttles.
