Bike Ride-Courtney Campbell Trail (read the description, you can paddle instead)

  • to
  • This location is shown only to members

  • The Courtney Campbell Trail provides pedestrian and bicycle access along the southern side of the Courtney Campbell Causeway, linking two communities, Tampa and Clearwater, and two counties, Hillsborough and Pinellas, in western Florida. Along the way, the trail offers spectacular views of Tampa Bay and connects Cypress Point Park, Skyway Park, and Ben T. Davis Beach.

Let's meet at 9:15am and be ready to ride by 9:30am. We will ride the entire length of the trail and cross over the Courtney Campbell and head into Safety Harbor where we can wander for a few minutes, take a butt break and a bathroom break :-). For those that want to stop into Starbucks and grab a coffee, we'll give ya 5!!!! This is right around 30 miles round trip.

We will then head back and stop at Whiskey Joes for lunch and drinks, make sure to bring a bike lock. Whiskey Joes is only 1 mile from where your car is, so it won't be bad after eating and drinking to get to the cars, just please drink responsibly!

***YOU do not have to ride the entire length with us, you may ride whatever you are comfortable riding and if you wish to still meet us at Whiskey Joes, by all means, please do***

***Actually, you don't have to ride at all if you don't want to, you can PADDLE. Yes, Sam, there is a boat launch at Cypress Point Park, it is open water.

Cypress Point Park is a relatively undiscovered treasure with a beautiful beach. The park includes a .90-mile asphalt trail and .44 miles of nature trails. Cypress Point Park provides visitors with stunning sunsets, gorgeous beach walks, dunes, beach wildflowers, and fishing opportunities. Park amenities include a bus stop, ample parking, ADA accessibility, bicycle racks, benches, a boardwalk, a canoe launch and picnic pavilions.**

For those who want to stop and hang out with me under the guide lights for Tampa International Airport and watch the planes fly over, it is really a cool experience.

Did anybody go? That wind must have been brutal...

Diane, this event above is for Dec 11. I don't think it has occurred yet. We did go Nov 20th, yesterday, and it was a great ride. The wind died down after 11:00, and was not a factor. We average 13 to 15 mph as we took our time getting back from Safety Harbor.

I would like to come and walk as far as possible(for me) and meet you at Whiskey Joes. Is that possible?

    November 19

    • amy

Yes ma'am, you can absolutely do that. Consider parking at Whiskey Joes and walking the causeway. It is a one mile walk from Cypress Park to Whiskey Joes.
