An Introduction & Walkthrough of the Go Programming Language

  • Mar 19, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • TelTech Offices

Hey everyone, it's been a bit since we've had our last meetup and we're looking to get things back into gear again!

This month's talk is going to be all about our experiences with the Go programming language over the past 6 months: a walkthrough for those new to the language, what we've learned, and a few common mistakes we hope to help you avoid in Go. (The biggest strengths we have been enjoying daily while using Go are its concurrency model, and the freedom that comes with interfaces and enforced duck-typing for extreme flexibility)

We'll make sure to tailor this talk so that everyone can gain some knowledge / wisdom if this is your first intro to the Go language, so novices buckle your seat belts, and seasoned gophers get ready to see a few new tricks. We're very confident in Go's viability in our company's future and we'd love to open up a Q&A after the talk to share some of our success stories with the language on a deeper level.

We look forward to sharing our experiences and learning more about you and your interests!

Our meetup is at our brand new South Amboy office, with FREE food, drinks, and networking. What more could you ask for?

Also, would you be willing to share the deck that was presented?

Thanks Bryan. The session was great and so was the pizza :) I wish you had Sublime open instead of PPT, but given the time constraints, it was quite informative!

Maybe one day we can do an actual interactive workshop! I definitely feel limited when working off of slides :-P

Hey everyone, it was great having you all come out and learn a little bit about Go! Here's a link to the slides from tonight if you want to skim through them or use the reference links!

We just got Google Glass at the office today, so we'll also have another cool toy for everyone to play with at this month's meetup!

Hey Bryan, thanks for doing this. Go has been on my "bucket list" for a while. Hope to make it!
