This walk completes our linear exploration of Epping Forest and is about 8 miles long. We start at Epping Station (Central Line). It passes an Iron Age camp and I'm also hoping for some autumn colour. Beech is plentiful in the forest and although the nuts are small, they're very tasty with a little salt. Foraging anyone? The paths are generally very good and it is suitable for disabled access. We finish at the Royal Forest pub or the Butlers Retreat café, where there is also a Visitor Centre and Hunting Lodge, from which it is a short downhill walk to Chingford Station (mainline to Liverpool Street) and Bus Station. If we divert to another refreshment area at High Beach after about 5 miles, it might take a little longer.
Our walks are designed for exploring London, getting some exercise and meeting friends, old and new. As usual we'll do a voluntary collection for Central London Humanists - £2 suggested.
