CMP Community and Family Ostara Ritual

  • Mar 16, 2013 · 2:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This event is family friendly. There will be an egg hunt and more for kiddos!

For adults, the main rite is adults only. Children will have a separate event in the other room and join us at the end.

We plan on starting the main ritual around 2:30-2:45, and the duration will be about a half hour.  The all-ages ritual (for kids) will be at the same time.  Since it is going to rain, I may make it more celebratory and potentially include everyone in a single ritual.

Presume the egg hunt will start between 3 and 3:30!

At this time we will share food as part of a pot luck.  Please bring a small dish to share!

Note: location will be at the Peermans in Bowie, MD.

17312 Queen Anne Bridge Road. You can use mapping software or a GPS, but Q.A.B. Road is off Rt. 301. If you're traveling South on 301, it will be a left turn, two traffic lights after the intersection with 197. Then it's just under a mile down the road, on the left-hand side; turn where you see the house number posted. As soon as you turn, you will see the large playset and the house just beyond that on the right. There is plenty of space to park, but be careful about the drainage ditches.

Someone brought a savory meat pie in a metal pie pan. (Different than the quiche in a metal pan that I made.) Anyway, your pan is clean -- Shall I just bring it to the next Rune workshop at Stone Manor?

Oh that was mine lol and it wasn't meat :) was mushrooms...it was a mushroom/Guinness pie lol, but the darn recipe called for too much pepper....

Loved the fire dance and egg runes. Short enough to keep the kids interested, but still mature enough to keep the adults interested :)

If we come I was going to bring some cookies (nothing fancy, just some prettied-up toll house cookies) but we need to see how E. is doing in the morning if she's up for coming to the ritual...

Big bummer! I was so looking forward to meeting everyone, but unfortunately, I got pulled into a major project this morning and am going to need to work this weekend. Hope to make it to the next occasion instead. Sorry!

Here is a tentative schedule, at least for the Family portion. Weather permitting, kids will start with playing outdoors, and a craft activity will also be available. The "All Ages" Ritual will start at 2:30 and try to stick to ~1/2 hr long. There will be an adult supervising whichever children are NOT participating in the ritual (as per each parents' discretion). The egg hunt will be at 3:30. This includes some cushion if things run later and also gives time to hide the eggs.

I don't know the exact times of the Adult-Only ritual, but it will be at the same time as the kids' activities and in a different area, most likely either the basement or the loft. (Or if weather is bad, we may swap that around, with "All Ages" in the basement and Adults-Only on the main floor.) The groups will come together at 4pm for the Group Blessing, egg shell offerings & proceed to the pot luck.

New around here and to stuff in general. If we are interested in attending do we need to bring or do anything special?

    March 7, 2013

    • Angela P.

My rule of thumb is to always bring something that I know my own kids will eat.

Would love to join you...also wondering about time frames. I am sure we will have to leave early because we have a birthday party in Severna Park to attend that evening.

seconding request for what time things are happening. we will likely be going to a memorial service that day and may be late.

      It says 2 pm - 6 pm.

right, but like, i wanted to know, for example if ritual was starting *at* 2, or if it was at 3, or something. the memorial service is at 1 in Glen Burnie so it is close-ish, but knowing when ritual will be approximately would help our plans.... assuming I'm not still sick over the wknd :-(

Sorry, I am already booked. Can't wait for the next event!

Is there a general time frame for certain things? We may have to leave early.

    March 10, 2013

    • Angela P.

Good question. We've got the prize-filled eggs for the kids' egg hunt. We've also got egg shells that will be filled with bird seed for the ritual offering. As for the timing & actual ritual, I am looking to the CMP organizers for that, unless they tell me otherwise. (I do have a basic Ostara ritual writeup that I can adapt if it's needed, but not necessary.)
