Monthly Meeting (and shoot?)

Flash 101 - We will have a discussion on shooting with flash. We will use the slides in the photo album entitled "Flash" as conversation starters. We need everyone to participate by asking questions, answering questions, or adding information from their knowledge base. After the discussion we will have assignments and an album for uploading your homework. There will be several levels of homework, you can choose the ones you have the equipment to handle. No grades will be given, but we will attempt to provide constructive comments.

Photoshop Elements Techniques - if we have time.

Quite informative. Really answered some of my pressing questions about weddings. I like the questions and explanations from others. Rather long for impatient people especially since I don't have a Nikon camera so I was not in tune with the different flash models. I will wait for the link, review it again at home and look for something similar for Canon cameras.

The ideas all translate to Canon (etc), even though some of the terms are different. If you play with some lighting scenarios, I think it'll start to make sense.

Sorry I had to sneak out early. Hopefully we can find some places to practice lighting soon!

David: I wanted to talk with you about you use of off-camera flash. I saw you using it at Franklin Park down among the Orchids. Are you attending the Blooms and Butterflies? Loyce

Sorry, Loyce - I'm busy. You can use your flash tomorrow when you see strong backlighting, or to stop the motion of butterflies in flight, if you see any. They're really challenging to focus on when they're flying, though!

Loved the informative first video. Sadly, had to leave early. The fast/slow and rear shutter sync explanations were really helpful. Was there a homewrk assignment? Thanks for the great research, Bob.

Nice seeing everyone! A lot of information! Unfortunately I had to leave early, so I missed some of this discussion.

You should bring your camera and flash to discuss with others both to teach and to learn.

Is the homework something we will do on our own or after the meeting?

Thanks for your good ideas. The wedding is right after church at 2:30. Hopefully it will be a sunny day. I kinda know where to stand so that the west stained window does not let in too much light. I will do the re-enactment as suggested. I plan to practice before that time at the church. Most photographers have their cameras and tripods set up already. Come to think of it, we have not had many wedding at the church. Bob: I have accomplished the OOB images with several different versions according to source of instructions.

If we have time, please talk briefly about the frame that you used to have a car running through the frame.

We can visit Shiloh any other time so as not to conflict with our monthly meeting.
