COUNT Discussion Meeting: Topic - "Atheism: Myths & Misconceptions"

COUNT focuses on volunteering and outreach. The projects that we take on are those that help the world around us and positively affect the lives and reputations of atheists and other non believers.

Every week we will meet to review those upcoming projects and then spend some time discussing a weekly topic that will help develop and support the local atheist/non-theist community, discuss secular viewpoints, encourage a positive atheist/non-theist culture, and provide opportunities for socializing and friendship.

This week, we will be discussing the myths and misconceptions that people have about atheists and other non-believers. What myths and misconceptions have you heard from friends/family or seen in online forums? Do atheists really eat babies? Are we, non-believers, to blame for the misconceptions and perpetuating the myths about our community? How do we change the perception?

If we have time, we’ll open up the floor to other topics. Afterwards, we are would love to spend time hanging out, having a few drinks, and getting to know one another.

Atheist, agnostics, other non-theists, and atheist-friendly people are welcome to join us.

Basic Discussion Meeting Agenda:

6:30 Introductions/Get Settled
7:00 Welcome, Projects Status/Ideas
7:30 Group Discussion Topic – “Atheism: Myths & Misconceptions”
9:00 Social Time
