"Snow Moon" Snow Shoe Hike at Edison Sno-Park

Let's go out to the ever so dog friendly Edison Sno-Park and take a snow shoe hike with our dogs off-leash under the Snow Moon as the full moon in February is called.  We'll hike about 1.5 miles to the Edison Snow Shelter, build a fire to warm us up and enjoy hot drinks, eg. hot cocoa and rum or brandy hot toddies!  Please feel free to bring the hot drink of your choice and whatever snacks you'd like to share with the group.

It is highly recommended that any dogs that are off-leash have 100% recall.  It would horrible to lose a dog in the middle of the night because his recall was unreliable.  For your dog's safety we suggest you keep him/her on leash if you do not have 100% certainty of the dog's recall.

We had a great time! It was snowing, but that made it more fun. Spent an enjoyable couple of hours in the snow hut with a roaring fire, wine, good food and great company! Thanks for building the fire for us Neil.

The evening turned out to be pretty awesome! We had 3 girls (LeAnne, Rene & Lady) and three boys (Neil, Dakota & me) do the 3 miles RT to Edison Sno-Shelter. Neil & Rene went out early to get the fire going so that when LeAnne & I arrived at 6:30 PM the fire was hot. Thanks for that! Rene brought red wine, bread & cheese to share with our group. We had light snowfall all evening and on the way back we were able to see the snow moon through the thin layer of clouds. We spent over 2 hours at the snow shelter enjoying the warmth of the fire and each other's company. Great hike!

I will likely hoof in ahead of the group to get the stove going. I have 4x4, studs, and mad winter driving skills so road conditions are not a concern. My vehicle is a faded red SUV with a black cargo box on top. If you don't see it in the Edison parking lot that means I'm still at home snoozing on the sofa.

look on the bright side- the ickier the weather the less likelihood the shelter will be overcrowded :)

Think I'm going to have to pass on this as much as I'd like to join...Jackson just neutered yesterday and don't want to leave him alone and take other two dogs...hope the weather holds up.

Would love to join you if there ends up being room! I don't have a "canine", but have hiked with you one other time and it was fun. I enjoy other people's dogs!

Unless it's fairly warm the day of this event, Bella Blue, will miss this hike. Alex, my snow dog, will be with me. What a perfect day to share our love of nature and our dogs!
