Code-First Entity Framework

Topic: Code-First Entity Framework

In our first session, you'll learn about a code-first approach to application development using Microsoft's Entity Framework. A code-first approach to application development promotes an agile and fluent workflow that allows you to programmatically define the shape of your database by creating standard .NET classes, and a whole lot more. We’ll discuss and demonstrate the core features of EF code-first by building a sample application that interacts with a typical entity model.

In our second session, we'll expand on our knowledge of code-first and take an in-depth look at the Fluent API. The Fluent API is a programmatic approach to affecting the shape of your generated database schema. We'll focus again on our sample application and demonstrate how to use the Fluent API to configure your application's model.

When we’re through, you’ll have a firm understanding of what the Entity Framework code-first and Fluent API features are, and how you can use them to improve your future application development cycles.

Michael Lukatchik was a knowledgable and well organized speaker. He did a great job presenting the material and I hope he continues to present material at Central Penn .NET UG. I have not used EF but I am now very interested in giving the Code-First approach a try.
