For our September meet we've got something a little different. We will be doing a Paddle-O.

A Paddle-O is a course which you complete in either a kayak or canoe. Take note that you may have to get out of your boat for some controls.

Bring your own kayak or canoe. Also we are looking into providing a limited number of kayaks and pfd's to rent, on a first come-first served basis. We will follow up later when we have a definite answer on this.

Starts: Start any time between noon and 2:00 pm. (Everybody must be back to the start no later than 4:00 pm., so be sure to have some way to track your time while you're out there.)

Boat rentals: We are still working on this and will update when we have an answer. Note: No paddling instruction will be provided.

Location: The boat launch is in Colonial Heights' White Bank Park (http://www.colonialheightsva.gov/facilities/facility/details/White-Bank-Park-38) while the water we will be paddling in is Chesterfield County's Swift Creek Conservation Area (http://www.chesterfield.gov/Parks.aspx?id=6442485147).

Cost: Maps are $5 each.

Other:

As always, instruction will be available for beginners or those who would like some help to get started.

Bring your own compass, or borrow one of ours (on a first-come basis). Be prepared to leave car keys or an ID as a deposit when borrowing.

Dress appropriately for the weather and for boating. You should also dress to be prepared in case you get wet. Water and sunscreen are good ideas to bring along.

Note: PFDs are required to be worn while on the water.

Feel free to post comments or contact one of the organizers if you have any questions.

*** Our meets wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers. Please consider offering some of your time at this or another upcoming meet. ***

Course Details: There will be one Score-O course.

A Score-O is a course with all control locations shown on your map and you find them in any order that you feel is the best route.
