We haven't been in this section of the park for a while. It's got some interesting terrain and should be fun for all levels, so come join us! Three courses to choose from! See below for course details.

*** *** *** *** *** *** ***

STARTS: Start any time between noon and 2:00 pm. (Everybody must be back to the start no later than 3:30 pm.) Feel free to arrive any time after 11:45 am.

COST: Maps are $5 each.

LOCATION: Don't go to the main park entrance. The address is 9200 Beach Road. Look for the orienteering signs and for the District IV Office sign on the north side of Beach Road. We will meet near the Forest Service building which is 30 meters after Dvorak Forest Rd. bends to the right.

PARKING FEE: A parking fee of $10 per car will be collected (unless you have a State Parks parking permit). You can also pay ahead of time with the Viply app (https://www.viplypass.com/virginia-state-parks/).

As always, instruction will be available for beginners or those who would like some help to get started. We can also offer some tips to those who've been out a few times and want to advance their skills a bit.

Bring your own compass, or borrow one of ours (on a first-come basis). Be prepared to leave car keys or an ID as a deposit when borrowing.

Dress appropriately for the weather and for travel both on & off trail. Water, sunscreen, and bug spray are also good items to bring along.

Feel free to post comments or contact one of the organizers if you have any questions!

Be sure to answer the instruction and map questions when you RSVP! This really helps us with planning.

*** Our meets wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers. Please consider offering some of your time at this or another upcoming meet. ***

All courses will be traditional orienteering courses which are to be completed in the numerical order indicated on the map.

Courses will be:

White (beginner)
Yellow/Orange (novice)
Brown/Green (advanced)
