Bukhansan National Park - Obongsan & Dobongsan

  • Sep 8, 2013 · 8:30 AM
  • Bulgwang Station (Line 3 & 6) Exit #8

Let's hike at Bukhansan National Park! We will take a bus to the trailhead and hike up to Obongsan (676m). The trail will then lead us to Dobongsan (740m) and will take us along a ridge before leading us down to Mangwolsa Station. The hike will have steep sections and will involve a lot of rocky terrain, so footwear appropriate for hiking is a must. The hike will take about six hours, including time for lunch. It should be a great day-trip right here in Seoul!

Can I still join when I am on the waitlist?

    September 7, 2013

    • Heather G.

I have to limit the number of participants because we will take a city bus to the trail, and also because the network of trails is a little complex where we are going. I need a manageable number of people for these reasons.^^

Right now your RSVP says "No", so if you'd like the chance to attend, change your RSVP.^^

  • Heather G.

Hi everyone! Remember to change your RSVP if you no longer can attend this hike so that people on the waiting list can have a chance to attend. Thanks!^^

Hello, I see the hike is full and there is a waiting list, but we take a city bus. Does that mean anybody can show still and take the bus?

    September 6, 2013

    • Heather G.

I limited the number of attendees since the network of trails on Bukhansan is so complex and it will be easier to manage a smaller group for this particular meetup.^^

    Hi Guys

I am new to Seoul and haven't got a clue of how to get around. I live in Itaewon and would love to go. I am not too sure how to make it to the starting point. Will anyone going be starting there journey from near Itaewon?

    September 2, 2013

    • Heather G.

The subway will be the easiest option for you. Get on the subway at Itaewon Station (or Noksapyeong, if that's closer to you) which is on Line 6, and get off at our meeting place, Bulgwang Station, which is also Line 6. No transfer necessary.^^ It will take about 30 minutes. You can see the subway route/schedule here: http://dmzap1.seoulme...

Thanks Heather, that sounds straighforward enough. See you Sunday am really looking forward to getting into the countryside.

Not a hiking beginner. But does the hike always have ground underneath? Or are there parts with steelwork hanging on a rock wall with 100m nothing below?

    September 2, 2013

    • Heather G.

Don't worry! There will always be ground underneath. Some parts of the trail go up big rocks, so there are metal handrails to hold as you walk up. It's usually not so difficult to hike in those sections.^^
