Writing groups are great places to exchange compassionate, constructive and thoughtful criticism of each other's work, but they're not so good for hanging out. Which is a shame, of course, because I think everybody is pretty cool and would like to hang out/get to know you a little better.
This being the case, I thought it'd be fun to throw a party. Me living in a small and not very nice house, Rich (Richard Post) has volunteered to host it. Hurrah! (and the rest is history)
Here are the important things:
- RSVP! Rich has a big ol' house, but it still can only hold so many people. Specifically, 50. So if you want to come (and know you're going to), just RSVP! (If you want to bring anybody--significant other, children--it's probably fine, but send me an e-mail just to make sure).
- Eat and drink! I'm going to drop $50 on some decent craft beer, Rich said he'd probably get some light snacks and wine, but if you're bringing any recreational snacks or beverages, post them here so we don't wind up with like eight tubs of popcorn and three bottles of muscato (because I hate popcorn, because I love muscato).
- Carpool! Rich doesn't live very far away, he's got lots of parking space, but carpooling is (a) better for the environment and (b) makes it less awkward to go to a party. Also, (c) I don't have a car/I need a ride. :( . If you're willing to drive, post and let us know! And then whoever wants to carpool with you can just reply to your post.
- Listen to Music! If you'd like to put a playlist together, go for it. I, for one, am going to bring Sun Ra, Funkadelic, some Clash, Archie Shepp, Tito Puente, and general wackness. It'll be fun. Promise.
If you have any questions, just send me an e-mail. We'll see you there!
