RPGs at the Gate

On Tuesdays, we'll be playing RPGs (Role Playing Games) at the Gate Play game store.  Both experienced and new RPG players are welcome.  We regularly play Pathfinder Society (D&D) but will occasionally mix in a sci-fi or alternate RPG like Shadowrun, Star Wars Edge of Empire, or GammaWorld.

Most nights for Pathfinder Society, we'll have three tables running, one for lower level and beginner players and one upper low level table somewhere around 3+ level characters.  Find out more about pathfinder society here: http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety

Admission to this event is $5 which includes a $2 coupon for any item store wide.  Newcomers can get a "free pass" at the store upon request.

Everyone make sure to signup on the Warhorn site if you'd like priority seating at a particular table. Still looking for a GM for a third table. Please e-mail Sean if you'd like to volunteer. Warhorn it here: https://warhorn.net/events/central-valley-pfs/schedule/2013/10/01

Remember - signing up at warhorn reserves your spot... even for a multi-night module... people who sign up at warhorn get priority over someone who played night #1...so sign up quickly, so GMs know what to expect.

    Is this legit? http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/d/dominate-person
If so, Kalen should of gotten a +2 reroll to his will saves whenever he attacks a member of his party (which happened about 10 times). "Subjects resist this control, and any subject forced to take actions against its nature receives a new saving throw with a +2 bonus." Just an FYI for the future. Alas, it was still fun to beat down a low tier demi god. :p This makes Dominate Person not so OP as I thought, and much more easy to deal with.

Every time players come to the table they must recognize that their PC can/may die. I see myself as a players GM, not a killer GM. I want you guys to have fun and be challenged. As we all know, Pathfinder has a million rules, and there are a million exceptions to the rules. The Dominate Person spell has A LOT of GM discretion built into it. Kalen's PC was a Hellknight (Lawful Neutral if I remember correctly). I don't feel it was a stretch for him to easily fall pray to beating up his party. Sure, the +2 would have helped, but the Save was DC 24. Not an easy roll to make (then again we are talking about Mr Crit himself). Last thing, a one-shot module only awards 1Prestige. The party earned max gold and max prestige. The crappy boon will be a reminder that not every scenario/module has a happy ending...
