Had a great paddle with Cathy and Ed around the North end of North Hero 15.3 Mile. Saw a Eagle and watch a Sea plane take off and land in the water a few times. Stop a few times and it rain every time we stop.

Excellent paddle. 15.3 miles around the northern half of North Hero. SE winds created some fun chop in the beginning of the paddle. We never saw the sun and encountered one heavy downpour around Carry Bay.

3 of us paddled north with 1 1/2 swells until we got to east side of North Hero. Stopped a bridge, then continued to Carrry Bay. we carried our boat over Rt 2 at the Culvert. Total trip 15 miles.

Not me....this is on the "to do" list...paddle around all the major parts of the Champlain northern islands this summer.

Lynda, I'm sure if you post a meetup, it's likely others will join you (as per my earlier post in the discussion area)

The map is wrong...shows some place in England. The launch site is just off Rte 2 on the right hand side (bridge rd) just before you cross the bridge into Alburgh. There is a gas station/minimart on the right just before the put-in.

England is not a bad place...just a bad place to start a paddle around North Hero, VT

CHANGE IN LAUNCH SITE for North Hero- Changing the launch site to the VT F&W Access Area at King's Bay in North Hero on Lakeview Dr. Lakeview Drive is a right hand turn off US Rte 2. (The reason for the change is the other launch site has no public ramp and launching would be difficult. The Marina no longer allows free launching from their ramp)

    how about Saturday, July 6?

    June 5, 2013

  • Cathy F.

The weather forecast for Saturday looks horrible for this trip. Remants of the tropical storm will still be with us. Perhaps we should reschedule to a later date. I'd rather do this trip in good weather to enjoy all the scenery.
