Buddhism for Beginners - "The Path Leading to Cessation of Suffering"
Venerable Tenzin is in a one year solitary retreat until 12/31/2018. All classes are cancelled until February 2019. 2019 BUDDHISM FOR BEGINNERS CLASSES WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN JANUARY 2019 What the Buddha Taught - The Four Noble Truths . . . Part of the Fourth Noble Truth, the path that leads no more suffering, is the path of the Bodhisattva...the essence of the Mahayana path of Tibetan Buddhism. Ven. Tenzin will present teachings on the "Bodhisattva Path" This is your opportunity to attend in-depth teachings on these core Buddhist principles . . . what the Buddha meant by suffering, causes of suffering, what is nirvana "the cessation of suffering" and the path that leads to liberation from suffering. Who Should Attend? • Curious About Buddhism? Learn Buddhist philosophy at Khandro Ling. • Exploring Your Personal Path? Take what is useful, leave rest behind. • Seeking Structure & Practice Results? Lamrim provides the foundation. • Unable to Commit to the Full Series? Come anyway. At Khandro Ling you learn more than just a list of exotic ingredients in Buddhism. You receive the full recipe from a teacher who explains how to put the practices into daily life. Lama Tsongkhapa organized the Buddha's teachings in such a manner that if one were to study only the Lamrim Chenmo and follow the instructions diligently you will be free from all suffering and attain Buddhahood in this very lifetime. Tsongkhapa is the founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism . . . the lineage of Khandro Ling and Venerable Tenzin. Why Meditate? Meditation is one of the essential disciplines in the path of self-transformation. In meditation we learn how to reflect, analyse and relate spiritual teachings to our personal experience. Through meditation and study we come to understand how things and events truly exist. In addition to single-pointed concentration and basic mindfulness practices, we must at a minimum gain an intellectual understanding of the core principles for a spiritual life. Teachers, mentors and instructors are essential supports to mastering this ancient contemplative practice. These training sessions are appropriate for all level of students and spiritual beliefs. Venerable Tenzin Yeshe Meditation and Dharma Instructor Ven Tenzin attends long and solo retreats on a regular basis. She is a volunteer Chaplain at Folsom State Prison teaching meditation and Buddhist philosophy. Ven. Tenzin has Bachelors of Arts degrees in Philosophy and Psychology. She completed Geshi Tashi Tsering’s two year program “The Foundation of Buddhist Thought” through Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London. She is a personal student of Geshe Damchoe and has attended many teachings by H.H. the XIV Dalai Lama and other high Tibetan Lamas. Ven. Tenzin has a genuine, simple, direct and often humorous approach to life’s surprises. These classes exist entirely on attendee donations. Suggested donation is $5 - $10. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Donations are appreciated and help to support the Dharma.
