Authentic Buddhist Meditation Instruction

BREAKING NEWS! -- NEW LOCATION FOR FEBRUARY!

Ven. Tenzin offers the teaching free of charge. Your $2-$5 donation will ensure the incredibly discounted venue rental fee of $40 will be covered.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is one of the essential disciplines in the path of self-transformation. Developing the core skills of mindfulness, emotional receptivity and positive energy takes place in the structured setting of formal meditation practice. With the meditation skills we develop, we cultivate our pure heart nature and learn to manifest ourselves genuinely in our daily lives. Through meditation we come to understand how things and events truly exist. Teachers, mentors and instructors are essential supports to mastering this ancient contemplative practice.

These training sessions are appropriate for all level of students and spiritual beliefs.

What You Will Learn

• How to become “frazzle free.”
• Seven point meditation posture.
• Nine stages of meditation.
• How to use breath, chanting, prayers and visualization in meditation.
• How to maintain mindfulness in daily life activities.
• Components to a daily meditation practice.
• How to develop meditation tranquility and insight.
• How to connect fully with your spiritual teachers or higher power.

    Welcome Dusty :)

There will be meditation cushions and chairs available. If you have your own cushions that is wonderful also. Dress comfortable.

There is no registration fee. As a monastic I offer the teachings free of charge. The monthly overhead expenses to rent the location, the MeetUp webpage fee, printed materials, materials for meditation cushions, fuel, etc. is approximately $100 per month. An easy way to estimate what an appropriate donation would be is when people come to a Sunday class to look around, divide the $100 by the number of people present and contribute that amount. Any amount above the monthly expenses goes toward supporting my travel expenses to Folsom Prison where I offer meditation and Buddhist teachings to inmates on a regular basis. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds, so those with the means to offer more help to sponsor those who have less discretionary funds and also helps this monastic to continue to offer teachings freely. See there :)

    Hi Etta,

There are chairs available that will be setup for people unable to sit on a cushion. If stairs are on issue, there is an elevator that can take you up the one flight to the sanctuary room. This new space will also allow us to practice walking meditation.
