This class teaches the fundamentals of Chan Buddhist meditation, as taught by Dharma Master YongHua, who has trained as a Buddhist monk in the rigorous techniques of Chan for 20 years. This is a rare opportunity to learn from a Master of Chan meditation.
What is Chan Meditation
Chan (called "zen" in Japanese) is the most advanced form of Mahayana Buddhist meditation. We follow the tradition of Wei Yang lineage, one of five Chinese Chan schools transmitted by Grand Dharma Master Hsuan Hua. We adapt Chinese Chan training methods to the Western culture and modern times and call it "American Chan".
Since 2006, students of American Chan from all walks of life and many continents have been improving steadily from beginner to expert levels, thus enabling them to better cope with the increasing complexities and challenges of modern times.
