What we're about

"And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” -Anais Nin

It's easy to isolate yourself when dealing with anxiety and depression, yet social engagement/connection can be important when managing these conditions. If you're a woman at any stage of managing anxiety and depression in your day to day life, join this group and meet other women who experience some of the same challenges you do.

Experiences here will offer support, respect, validation and acceptance. Our events are organized with the intention of inspiring and uplifting the spirit. Meetings are currently being held virtually on Zoom. Show up as you are. Contribute as much or as little as you're able on any particular day.

Please note: Although we are currently meeting virtually, we are still only accepting members who live in the triangle area, since we hope to meet again in person in the future. New members must also have a photo with their face showing in Meetup. 24 hours notice for cancellations to an event are required. After 3 no-shows or last minute cancellations you may be removed from the group. Although, we understand a number of barriers can present themselves and make showing up difficult, there are others who often want to participate and cannot because events fill up quickly. Please be considerate and RSVP only if you believe you'll be able to attend an event. Thank you!

From Kristen, Organizer of current virtual events-

I've been attending group events since October, 2019 and have found them to be very helpful and uplifting, especially during this difficult time. I work in Technology and have a lot of experience meeting virtually. I was very glad to step in as Organizer and host while we are meeting virtually.

The types of events we are continuing to hold virtually- Journaling, Art/Creative sessions, Show & Tell, Book/Movie discussions, and Game/Happy hour. I'm looking forward to seeing you at a future virtual meeting.

Events are currently being held on Tuesday from 7-9pm or Sunday from 3-5pm.

From Kelly, Founder and Organizer of future in person events-

I'm not a therapist. I'm just a person who's had anxiety as a near constant companion for decades now. The anxiety fuels isolation, which fuels depression. That's my cycle. I've spent loads of money on doctors, therapists, acupuncture, medications, herbs, anti-inflammatory foods, yoga, and the list goes on. My husband finally said to me one day, "You're never going to be cured of your anxiety, but you always seem the best when you've been able to talk about it and have someone validate your experience. Why don't you stop spending so much money on therapy and just join a group?" So that's what I did and it made all the difference. I still manage anxiety most days, but knowing that I'm not alone in the struggle anchors me enough to help me navigate the complexities of this human life.

I've experienced in a prior group that it can be such a relief to have a place to go where you can take off the mask. My long career as a corporate wellness coordinator gives me a unique set of skills to organize meaningful events meant to enhance well-being. Our future in person meetings will take place in a variety of settings always with the goal of inspiring and uplifting the spirit.
