Developers Can Make Assets Too - Getting Started w/ 3D Modeling
David Speer is going to go over some workflows for using Blender, Unity and Gimp. He’ll talk about and demo using open source tools to quickly create art assets and animations without a technical art background. Many art applications, especially 3D content creation tools are complex. He will focus on getting around the IDE, using just what we need and dodging most of that complexity. He will also talk about planning and maintaining consistency for art assets in your Unity project to avoid common problems. Our Sponsors: • Thanks to Microsoft ( providing the facility to meet • Thanks to TEK Systems ( for providing the food Housekeeping Notes: • The facilities do have restricted access (which is why someone needs to let people in the doors). For safety and security, we must have people RSVP so that the security office has a list of attendees. Please make sure to have your first and last name in your profile to properly reflect on the badge. The RSVP will close approximately 24 hours before the meetup so that the facility coordinator has enough time to print the name badges • Plans can change, it's OK, happens to the best of us. Please make sure that if you are no longer able to attend after RSVP'ing for the meetup to change your response. This way we can ensure that we are ordering the proper amount of food and that nothing is going to waste.
