What we're about
Charlotte Cohousing is an Initiative to bring Cohousing to Charlotte. To learn all about the local group in Charlotte, contact any of the organizers and for extensive info on cohousing in general, see the National Cohousing Association site - www.Cohousing.org.
Generally, cohousing communities are designed as clusters of private residence around a central courtyard and community building. We expect that there will be around 30 units built in each cohousing neighborhood in Charlotte. Because of the intentionally designed layout of the neighborhood, there are many opportunities for casual as well as deliberate gatherings such as celebrations, club activities, community meals, tutoring, picnics and meetings. The physical design encourages both social contact and individual space. Each private residence contain all basic features of conventional homes, but residents also have access to extensive common facilities such as open space, courtyards, a playground and a common house with extra fun and useful things.
Cohousing residents are consciously committed to living as a community and to a collective decision making process typical of such communities.
All are welcome to join, even those who are just interested or want to know more. Contact any of the organizers with questions. We would love to hear from you!
