About the band...The Barflys are a five piece country flavored band from Roanoke, VA. Front man Kelly Mullen is a self taught guitarist with 30 years performing experience. He has played over 5000 shows from Sloppy Joes in Key West, FL. to The Glens Falls Blues Festival in upstate New York where he sidelined with the late Ernie Williams. A staple on the VA/NC music scene, he has performed on the nationally syndicated John Boy and Billy “Big Show” several times.
Will Henson began his performing career at the age of 7! At 18 he helped propel the band “Trespasser” to a Nashville recording studio where they recorded a single called “Satisfies You/Something New” that took them to #7 on the independent charts in Cashbox Magazine. In 1996 Will relocated to Roanoke, VA and continued playing in local bands and appeared in several Charles E. Cullen independent film releases. He launched his own TV show in September of 2005 that can be seen on Roanoke’s Cox Channel 2!
Barry plays lead guitar….and he plays it well.
Our drummer, Gary L. Hall has been playing professionally for 32 years having toured with some of the region’s top acts. He’s performed at every House of Blues and Hard Rock Café in the country touring with “Frontiers” The Journey Tribute and the Easy Riders Magazine National Motorcycle Rally tour in 2012 with “Cowboy” The Kid Rock Tribute. He also has extensive recording experience and has released three CDs of his own material winning #3 song of the year and top 100 of the decade honors for a 1995 release entitled “Lily”. Gary plays DW Drums, Zyldian Cymbals and Pro Mark Sticks exclusively.
Bobby Moore has played in bands of all types over the years. A few of the more recent have been BeBop Hoedown, Acoustic Endeavors and Grass Monkey out of Roanoke, VA. His involvement helped the latter to winning an appearance at Floyd Fest in 2012. His roots are from the Bluegrass world where he has been playing or competing at The Galax Fiddlers Convention and other festivals for as long as he can remember. Ever the penultimate sideman, he lends his skills on fiddle, banjo and mandolin to “ice the cake” on The Barflys unique sound.
