Charlotte Sushi and International Food Lovers Pages

Welcome sushi lovers, dining enthusiasts and raw fish addicts. This meetup group is going to be a very active meeting group for lunches and dinner gatherings every month. The sushi bars will change as we tour the Concord/Charlotte area. Join us for great conversations and lots of great rolls.

There are no required fees for this group. Although as many of you know meetup comes with a cost, which is why I added the optional $10 a year fee or a $1 per meetup. Again, not required, but definitely appreciated!

- How do I join the club?
You really don't have to do anything to join because it's not a formal club. You can consider yourself a "member" if you attend from time to time at outings which interest you. You are not obligated to attend every time we meet. There are no fees, initiation rites, club secretaries, etc. - just people who meet to eat sushi and enjoy each other's company.

- How many people usually come?
We don't know yet! Since this is a brand new group, we'll have to wait and see but hopefully we can average 6 to 12 people per meetup.

- How do you work out paying for the check?
Each person/couple pays for what they eat/drink.

- My [boyfriend/girlfriend/dining partner] doesn't like sushi - is there anything else for them to eat?
Most sushi restaurants usually have cooked Japanese style entrees available. Even if you are the timid one, you won't be the first - come along and maybe just order one piece to see what you think!

- Can I bring my kids?
Some events will be titled 21+ due to alcohol being served and the nature of the get together. Bringing small children has never been a problem in the past but do take on board that it will sometimes take over an hour to be served your dinner because of the size of the group. Also you will find that many of our members do not have children so conversation will be of a mature nature because this is an adult gathering.

- What are the sushi club members like?
Again, since this is a new group, we don't know yet. But there will be beginners and experts, along with anything in between. I still consider myself new to sushi even though I've been eating it for about 2 years now, I'm still learning and tasting new things all the time.

- How did this get started?
The reason why I set up the club was because I was always having a hard time convincing friends to go have sushi! So, knowing that this was likely to be a common problem for fellow sushi-lovers, we decided to make it easy for us to have company eating. Also, there was no other group like it in the area so here we are!

- How do I know where/when you'll be meeting next?
This website is usually up-to-date, and the dates/times will be listed here. You'll also get reminders of meetups that you RSVP'ed for. If you're ever not sure for any reason, feel free to email me anytime.

- Where will we be meeting?
This is up to all of us! I'm new to the area and don't know too many places, so I'll be taking suggestions from everyone. I've seen a few places in my travels so we'll probably start there, but I'm definitely open to places you've been to or would like to go to. Feel free to add a suggestion on the suggestion page.

Spamming - Please do not add spam to our meetup. Cleaning up our little area is at the discretion of the Organizers which will simply delete any adverts, promotions of outside sources, multiple "copy and pasting", and what we feel to be over "out of topic" messages. Oh, and any "unhappiness or gestures" that spoils the fish.

To contact the organizer Ken with any other questions, or any other reason, just send an email to smile
