The One Ring RPG - One Shot

The One Ring: Adventures over the Edge of the Wild is the new roleplaying game based on The Lord of the Rings—the most influential property in fantasy. It's set after the events of The Hobbit; the initial game is set the region of northern Mirkwood and environs, with future releases expanding the scope of the setting to encompass more of Middle-earth as the era moves closer to the looming War of the Ring.

Sorry, for the delay. I will be bringing a melee, herbal remedies Woodman of Wilderland (curious and true-hearted). Don't know if the extra detail helps any, but figured I'd share. :)

I will be bringing a dwarf of Lonely Mountain, and a Beorning if need be.

Please let me know what "free folk" your PC will be. This will help me develop the story line. Thanks!

I've made 2 characters so far. The main one I would like to play is a Barding ranged (great bow) huntsman type character. I also created a Murkwood Elf who is ranged but more of a scholar/healer. I can create 1 more toon if need be before we meet so that we have options and can fill rolls.

Jerry - I think two is plenty. Make sure you have at least 2 ranks in the melee weapon. Ranged is great but sometime you can't use it.

Hi guys, I've been looking for a TOR group for a while and I'm glad to find one. Is there a need for a hole in the party (huntsman, lookout, spokesman, tank) or can just what we like? Either way it sounds like it will be a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to it.

I would say we only need one ranged heavy character since you will only be able to have one PC in "rearward" with 3 in the fellowship. Other than that, create what you fancy. This game in more narrative so you need really like your character.

    Hi Matthew,

I've never played The One Ring before. What will I need to bring with me or prepare prior to 11/10? Will I need my own copy of the rules you reference in the link and familiarize myself with that? Will I need to create a character or two to have on hand so that we can jump right into the adventure?

No real magic in the game. There were only 5 (I think) wizards in Middle Earth. Best ranged folks in the core book are the Bardings. Men of the Lake are also good and I have the supplement. Choose the highest body and wits. You will need body for damage and wits for parry rating.

Thanks, Matthew. I've rolled two characters so far as options. If this ends up happening on 11/10 I'm wondering about armor, weapons, and equipment for my my character. Will that happen on 11/10, or will we need to take care of the prior somehow? Saw your note to me about C&C. I may have some interest in that. I just bought books for D&D and The One Ring. I'd like to see if those groups pan out before looking into C&C.
