  • September 18 Vinay Rao - Founder Rocket ML + Julio Barros Demos Rasa

Join us September 18 as we welcome presenters Rocket ML founder Vinay Rao and Julio Barros who will share his experiences working with Rasa's open source conversational AI tools. Doors will open at 5:30pm for drinks, pizza and conversation 6:15pm – 7:00 pm Julio Barros will take us under the hood of a Chatbot powered by Rasa Today there are powerful services you can use to build conversational systems without any programming. However, whether you'd like to run your own or want to better understand existing services it is useful to know how they work under the hood. In this high level overview of the internals we'll use the open source Rasa conversational AI project to explore the various components that make up a modern conversational system. No programming experience needed and you'll gain an understanding of how conversational systems work, what is required technically, and what are the challenges and opportunities when you roll up your sleeves and get under the hood. 7:00pm– 8:00pm Vinay Rao, Founder Rocket ML The artificial intelligence revolution is being enabled by the rapid increase in data, computing power in the cloud, and hardware accelerators. However, only 5% of organizations have adopted or deployed AI in their operations and 80% are gathering knowledge and prototyping. (source: JP Morgan) The chasm from prototyping to production is large. A super fast system like RocketML enables smooth transition from prototyping into production without expensive hardware. Vinay will discuss how RocketML reduces machine-learning challenges, improves Data Scientists' productivity and reduces Total Cost of Ownership all at the same time. Vinay will also touch on how RocketML can be used to build specific applications like Chatbots, Visual Applications (including Robotics, Video search, etc) and demonstrate how anyone can build nifty applications without complex math.

Come hear an introduction to Chat bots with Michael Jones and discuss the implications and potential that this technology will bring to the future of society. Currently conversations with a computer are often rather limited. Computers can take words and begin a search for information such as with Google. For the most part this is still a one way conversation. You the user ask what you are looking for and when you examine the results you need to ask again with a more specific or refined question. A chat box (also known as a talkbot, chatterbot, Bot, or Artificial Conversational Entity) is a computer program which conducts a conversation via auditory or textual methods. Such programs are often designed to simulate how a human would behave in a conversation. The closer that a chat box can model itself as a human it would pass what is called the Turing test. This Meetup is to discuss the current technologies and potential business of using a Chat box in applications or websites. We will have a short presentation on Chat Bots as a introduction, the current state of the better implementations and what resources are becoming available to programmers.
