Over the past 65 years the residents of 34th street in Baltimore's Hampden neighborhood have developed a reputation for putting up some of the most spectacular Christmas light displays in the United States. Stealing a little bit of magic from the well known Christmas movie, it has become known as "The Miracle on 34th Street". The residents and businesses in the area go significantly Christmas light crazy. We did this walk last year and had a ball! Come join us for a nice evening stroll and enjoy the lights.
We are borrowing again from the wonderful people at American Volksmarch and we will be following their 6mile route through the historic neighborhoods of Hampden and Roland Park to see the spectacular lights of 34th Street. We will stop for dinner at one of the numerous interesting restaurants along "The Avenue" (36th Street) which include the infamous Cafe Hon although Cafe Hon does require reservations over the holidays so we probably won't be eating there. If there a large group of us, we might break up into smaller groups like we did last year. One group had Mexican, while the other group ate across the street. Either way, we all had a great time! We will meet in the parking lot BEHIND the Rotunda and set out from there. We expect to be back to the cars around 10:30 PM, give or take a little.
