A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

Very occasionally (guided trips on vacations) until June of 2009 when I bought my own boat. Since then I try to get out a least once a week, occasionally on the Upper Potomac near Shepherdstown or on Tridelphia Reservior. This past Summer - 2011 - I really enjoyed the opportunity to paddle in a wonderful variety of locations from Conococheague Creek near Hagerstown to Cape Henlopen at Lewes, Delaware. A lot of it with friends from the Wednesday Night Paddlers :)

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

9.5' Dagger Zydeco and 14' LLBean Calypso and added an Eddyline Fathom LV the Summer of 2012

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

Oh, I'm one of the crazies :) I fell in love with kayaking the first time I tried it.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

The opportunity to continue to enjoy a variety of paddling locations with a congenial group of people.

After many years of planning to get my own kayak 'someday', I bought my first kayak in June of 2009 and my second the following Spring. I'm hooked!

What Toni is saying about this Meetup Group

If I could create a kayaking group to my own specifications, it would be just like CKA. Fortunately for me, Chuck already has!
