A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

I have one - which I always wear when paddling.

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

I've been kayaking about 10 years in a variety of conditions, including big waves on the Chesapeake Bay.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

I usually paddle a Necky Looksha IV 17-foot Kevlar sea kayak; like me, it's long, lean, fast and powerful. ;) I also have a Perception 12-foot plastic recreational kayak, and a CLC 17-foot wood sea kayak awaiting refinishing.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

Being on the water (especially with waves) makes me happy. A day of kayaking is both exhilarating and relaxing. I think that may put me in the "real crazies" category -- but I also enjoy the scenery, wildlife, exercise, and company.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

I really enjoy kayaking in new places, so I hope this group will introduce me to new places to paddle.
