A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

Yes we have two

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

My wife and i started with a Seaeagle inflatable. We have used our boat in Tridelphia Reservoir and Centennial lake. We also travel with it in our RV and have taken river trips on the Juniata river in PA and Camp on Lake Osborne in Lake worth FL in the winter and use it there 3 or 4 times a week. We also have a trolling motor and attachment for the boat. Got a Dagger Axis 12 in 2013 and have enjoyed many CKA trips since. I have taken a paddling basics glass with the group and learned a lot from that. Added a Perception Tribe 13.5 SOT and My wife and I use that in town around the Reservoir. Added 16 foot thermoformed Enlightened Kayak to the fleet in April of 2014

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

I have a Dagger Axis 12 and a Perception Tribe SOT tandem, a 16 foot Enlightened Sea Kayak and an inflatable Paddle Ski made by Seaeagle that travels with me in our RV

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

It is fun to paddle and explore rivers and streams and very relaxing. Great way to spend quality time with me wife and many new friends. Not bad exercise either.

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

To see more places on the water. To meet people with similar interests and share the experience.

My Name is Howard Mindek. Nickname "Smartie" I'm the one trailering a kayak behind my Smart car. A newbie in 2012 & learned a lot & truly love kayaking & being on the water. CKA, great people, great experience! I also kayak in a tandem with my wife.

What Howard M. is saying about this Meetup Group

Today was about one year for me as a CKA member and one year since I started to work with a personal weight trainer. One of my first paddles was here in an Inuit rental from Chuck. I was new to kayaking and was wiggling in a tippy boat and struggling to get home at the end. Today felt like graduation day. In one short year I have learned so much and become so much more accomplished and like most of you addicted to kayaking. I want to say thanks not only to the hosts Chuck, Kimmie and Bob for all the help, support and instruction but to everyone for all their assistance helpful hints and above all patience. CKA truly is a group where members with varied skill levels can enjoy a great kayaking experience. PS. The smart car does pull the boat on the trailer. The boat does not push the car...YET!
