What we're about

Have you ever felt as though you 'don't fit in', in a room full of people all talking about the same, mundane subjects? Do you have a mind full of thoughts and ideas, but no way of realising them because you think that no-one is actually interested in what you have to say? Do you feel misunderstood? Do you dislike cliques? Are you lonely? Do you want to form friendships with people who value 'you' as a person, based on respect, in a non-judgemental environment? You might be HSP or an empath that struggles to make meaningful friendships with people that last. Would you love to go out and socialise, but always find yourself either staying in or going out by yourself? Do you find yourself doing all of the work in friendships? Are you a procrastinator? Do you find it easier to say "I'll try tomorrow", rather than confront your fears and try to make your life happier now, this instant? Have you lost your confidence or do you suffer from low self-esteem? Maybe you're a stay at home mother like me and you want to find yourself again.
Don't worry if you don't think you're very creative. I like living 'outside of the box' a little and I think that this group should reflect that feeling. We'll step outside for a while to discover ourselves. This might be by sharing our own, personal stories and developing our ideas using creative writing. We might also use mixed media to reflect our thoughts and emotions and then discuss the work we have produced. Depending upon where we meet, we might also use mindfulness or meditation to help us focus our discussion on ourselves, rather than the outside world.
This group might also be for you if you like going to the theatre, the cinema, exhibitions or experiences. Suggestions will be welcome. The quirkier the better!

Annotating your Life - Creative Writing and Drawing Session.

£5.50

We'll be making casual introductions with one another and hopefully sharing some information about ourselves with the group. This is entirely optional and I completely understand if you find it difficult to do this so early on, with people who you might not know. During our first meetup, we'll be looking at different types of creative writing, and the way in which we can put pen to paper to reflect our emotional or physical wellbeing at particular times in our lives. I love the way that artists annotate their sketch books to explain in great detail about their intentions or their feelings. I will also be encouraging you to put pencil, charcoal or pastel to paper to reflect the way in which you feel at the time, and then to annotate your illustrations. As this group is about development, discovery and friendship, we'll then share our work with everyone, and I'll give you the option to have a discussion about what this experience meant to you at the end. We shall be keeping our illustrations and working them up into a journal over a period of time. As the weather gets warmer, sessions may be held outside, as I hope to venture into immense greenery from time to time! 'Annotating Your Life' will be a non-judgemental environmental that will enable us all to feel respected and free to express the way in which we feel at any time. Every member should always feel as though they are being included and any member with any prejudice should perhaps look for an alternative group. The cost of 'Annotating Your Life' will be £10.50pp for the first session. You will be required to pay a £5.50pp deposit before hand, to secure your place and to cover the cost of the room hire. You can hand the remaining balance to me on the day. THE DATE OF THE FOLLOWING MEETUP, IN MARCH, MAY CHANGE. Please bring along a sketch book and any mark making materials you may have. I look forward to seeing some of you next month xx
